Pleural Plaques Campaign Paul Clark MP,
today issued a call for those suffering from pleural plaques in Medway to speak out about their condition.
The call from the Gillingham and Rainham MP follows a recent lobby of Parliament by victims of the asbestos-related illness, who cannot claim compensation from
their former employers or insurance companies for the work-related condition. The Gillingham-born politician wants to build up a register of all those suffering from the condition in Medway so he
can take the names of those affected to Downing Street.
The MP has set up a dedicated section on his website, www.paulclarkmp.com, for people to get in touch with him and there is also a new email address
paulclarkcampaign@inbox.com where sufferers can contact the MP and register their name to
be added to the list.
Speaking about today’s announcement, Paul said, “I’m issuing the call today in order to build up a true picture of the number of people that are or have
suffered from pleural plaques right across the Medway towns. I really want to show the government what the strength of feeling is surrounding this issue, and to do that I need to have the support
of as many sufferers as possible. We could be talking about dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of people who have been affected in Medway alone; and they want some action from
government.”
